At God's Funeral: an Aural Exploration of Absurdism and Existentialism

Author(s): Thomas Darrell Newby II

Presentation: performance

At the core of modern humanity is a disharmony between the search for meaning in existence and an apparent lack of meaning to the universe. Using elements of music, theatre and aural exploration, I have begun creating a multi-faceted project that strives to address the question: How does one continue to live in a world without God? (Or another equally omnipotent force that gives our lives meaning.) My musical compositions, dialogues and auditory experiments not only discuss the consequences of a lack of existential guidance, they seek to imitate the struggle brought by it. A short presentation followed by a performance of one song and one dialogue from the project will be given.
