Presentation: poster

With the return of football to the College of Idaho campus the office of Marketing and Communication along with the Athletic department expressed an interest in knowing more about fan expectations. The research conducted by the CofI Consumer Behavior class was based on information gained from the study, Increasing College Football Attendance: An Exploratory Study of Fan Typology, (McKnight et al, 2013). The class developed an eight question survey to gather data. The primary objective of the study was to identify CofI student fan expectations for attending CofI football games. The secondary objective was to obtain information about CofI student fan typology. Survey data was collected between March 11 and March 31,2014. Preliminary data analysis of 348 surveys revealed 54% of the students plan to attend the football games. When asked what appeals to them most about attending football games: 35% attend for the entertainment value; 32% attend for the social interaction; 18% attend for the competition; 15% attend to be with friends and family. The fan typology breakdown showed 60% considered themselves to be a thinking person while 40% a feeling person. The student's described themselves as 36% an introvert and 64% an extrovert.
