Photometry of Globular Cluster M92

Presentation: poster

Two-color photometric measurements in V and B for 71 stars in globular cluster M92 were obtained on October 17, 2013 using the 0.35 m robotic telescope at The College of Idaho observatory. The images were calibrated in the usual manner and a color-magnitude diagram was constructed. The color-magnitude diagram clearly shows the horizontal, asymptotic giant, and the red giant sequences. Unfortunately, the data is insufficient to find the turn-off point of the main sequence, so an accurate age determination is not possible. An estimated age of 7.4 +/- 0.8 kpc was determined for M92 using a linear transformation to determine the V magnitudes for the horizontal branch stars, and an average absolute magnitude determined from the literature for eight different globular clusters.
