Duality

Author(s): Shea Rodgers

Presentation: display

Duality The imagery I have chosen reflects a conflict repeated throughout numerous religions, a conflict between good and evil. A conflict between choices that all people face. In different societies, good and evil can be defined differently based on common values but often the imagery representing these forces is similar. Evil is often aligned with death, chaos, violence, or extreme polarity of values. Good takes the opposite path often presented as benevolent, ordered, life perpetuating, with an avoidance of extremes. These works are created through a blend of processes. Photography, digital imaging, photographic printing processes, and watercolor have been combined to create a unique composition. The process of creating these images is satisfying to me because of its multi-faceted approach. It is an exciting balance of certainty and chaos that allows me to experience the subtleties of the final image. In the end it is hard to tell what is planned and what is random. This ambiguity reminds me of the struggle we all experience within ourselves.
