When people with depression don’t receive the help and support that they need, suicide often becomes an option to a way out. Because of this and the way I have been affected by my own issues and the passing of Williams, I wanted to contribute to the growing awareness of depression and suicide. I used a variety of media in order to create the effects I want, whether it be charcoal, ink, pen, or wire and paper, as long as I am able to create the emotions I want the audience to feel. I draw inspiration from the collages of Kurt Schwitters, and the cubist oil paints of Georges Braque. I aim to achieve the same sort of textures and values created in their pieces and incorporate those techniques into 3D work. My pieces are also not just one medium because every person is different; the ways they are affected, the ways they feel, the ways they choose to go out, and the ways that they may need to be helped are different.
