Ceramic art has been a passion of mine for the last six years. I focus on functional ceramic pieces that serve a purpose while being aesthetically pleasing. Most of my inspirations come from contemporary ceramic artists and social media sites. I love that artists around the world are able to share their ideas and sell their work via Etsy, Pinterest, and more, to those who otherwise would not be able to enjoy them. These artists are your next door neighbor, your close friend at work, and not necessarily well-known or established ceramicists. I love making pieces that bring beauty to everyday household items such as mugs, vases, candle holders, flowerpots, and more. I mostly use stoneware clay and different firing processes depending on the the functionality of the piece. One of my favorite techniques uses horsehair on the hot surface and leaves spontaneous lines and patterns. My senior art exhibition revolves around the idea of making ordinary items look extra-ordinary and bringing artistic elements to things that people can easily overlook.
