Climate Change and the Effects on Agricultural Farms in the Treasure Valley

Author(s): Shandee Tachick

Presentation: poster

Climate change may alter the future of agricultural farms in the Treasure Valley for many farmers. Farmers are going to have to adjust to climate change as snow pack is melting faster than previous years, summers are becoming hotter, and less irrigation water being available throughout the year. My methods will be analyzing the major impacts that climate change will bring toward the agricultural farms around the Treasure Valley, who is most likely to be impacted the most, and what solutions to the problems climate change can be causing with use of peer reviewed articles. Results of this study should have implications of how climate change is going to change the future for Treasure Valley farmers in how they may need to change crops, figure new ways to save or acquire water, or look at more innovated agricultural practices in order keep their agricultural farms in the Treasure Valley.
