McCain Student Center Operations

The McCain Center serves as the hub of the campus community. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community alike use the center to meet, study, hold activities or relax. The McCain Center houses the following:

Associated Student of Albertson College of Idaho (ASACI) Offices

Student managers are on duty nights and weekends to ensure the smooth, efficient and continuous operation of the McCain Student Center.

Reservation Policies and Procedures for the McCain Student Center

Spaces in the McCain Center that may be reserved include:

Other spaces may be reserved with special permission by the Division of Student Activities. (see Reservable Campus Facilities). All spaces on campus are reserved through the Facilities Coordinator at x5802.

ACI students, faculty, administration and staff are encouraged to make full use of the facilities in the McCain Student Center. We view the McCain Center as the college’s living room where socializing is the primary activity. With this in mind, the following policies are meant to promote the integration of the academic and co-curricular goals of the college. Please try to adhere to the spirit of these policies.

Student groups must obtain an Event Registration Form from the Information Desk in the McCain Center if they wish to hold an official function in the SUB. A description of the event along with a contact name and phone number is required when making a reservation (unless the reservation is simply for an organizational meeting).

Space is allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Student organizations will be given priority over all others concerning space reservations in the McCain Student Center. Because of this, they may bump any other group, including classes, from their meeting space if they give the Facilities Coordinator five working days notice.

Student organizations may reserve space on a weekly basis for up to one semester at a time.

Only the Movie Theater and Senate Chambers may be assigned by the Registrar as the primary meeting space for a class, and only if it is determined by the Registrar that the space is relevant to the curricular content of the class, and no suitable alternative exists on campus.

Classes may be moved to the McCain Center on a day-by-day basis when convenient by reserving the space through the Facilities Coordinator (x5865), but may not exceed one-third of the regularly scheduled class times per semester.

Because the McCain Movie Theater is considered a public space, film rights must be obtained before a movie is shown in this space or any space on campus except the Residence Halls. For this reason, please consult the Director of Student Activities if you wish to show a movie in this space or elsewhere on campus.

As with all spaces on campus, the furniture layout of each space is pre-arranged, and if altered, must be returned to the original layout when the class or meeting is finished. More than two violations of this policy will exclude individuals or groups from future use of the space. Please be courteous to those who need to use the space after you are finished.
The Eros Theatre is reserved through the Scarlet Masque student organization. (For contact information, please see the Director of Student Activities.)

There are three large tables on the main level that may be reserved through the Facilities Coordinator (x5802). These tables may be reserved for anyone wishing to promote a program, product, etc. Soliciting is not allowed and communication must be initiated by the student, faculty or staff person.

Any group desiring assistance with audio/visual needs (microphones, TV’s, multimedia projector, etc.) as part of reserving space must notify the Facilities Coordinator when making the reservation.

The ASACI Executive Room and the Coyote/Trail Office may not be reserved at any time.
