Art Major
Consists of 32 to 33 credits, to include the following required courses:
- ART-100 Drawing Composition
- ART-130 Introduction to Design
- ART-239 Ancient to Medieval
- ART-330.1 Figure Drawing
- ART-240 Renaissance to Modern
- One of the following:
- ART-323 20th Century Art
- One 300-level art history course
- One of the following:
- One of the following:
- Three credits from painting, printmaking, or photography
- Three credits in ceramics or sculpture
- Six credits of advanced studies.
Students seeking teacher certification with a major in art should consult a member of the Education Department.
Art Minor
Consists of 24 credits, to include:
- ART-100 Drawing & Composition
- ART-130 Introduction to Design
- One of the following:
- One of the following:
- ART-323 20th Century Art
- One 300-level art history course
- ART-330.1 Figure Drawing
- Three credits from painting, printmaking, or photography
- Three credits from ceramics or sculpture
- Three credits from Advanced Studies.
Students seeking teacher certification with an art minor should consult a member of the Education Department.
Graphic Design Concentration (for Art Majors)
Consists of the requirements for the Art major plus:
- One of the following:
- ART-363 Advanced Studies in Computer Graphics (six credits)
- ART-497 Internship (three credits)
Graphic Design Minor (not for Art Majors)
Consists of 17 to 18 credits to include:
- ART-100 Drawing & Composition
- One of the following:
- ART-130 Introduction to Design
- ART-363 Advanced Studies in Computer Graphics (six credits)
- ART-497 Internship (three credits)
- One of the following:
Art History Concentration (for Art Majors)
consists of 21 credits to include:
- ART-239 Ancient to Medieval
- ART-240 Renaissance to Modern
- ART-323 20th Century Art
- Nine additional credits in art history
Courses offered by other departments may also count toward these nine credits provided that they contain a strong visual arts component. Such courses can be found in the following departments:- Anthropology/Sociology (for example, Anthropology & Art);
- History (especially those dealing with Ancient Greece and Rome);
- Psychology (particularly those dealing with the cinema) and
- Interdisciplinary courses such as London: Art, Architecture & Literature.
- three credits of either:
Art History Minor (not for Art Majors)
Consists of 21 credits to include:
- ART-239 Ancient to Medieval
- ART-240 Renaissance to Modern
- ART-323 20th Century Art
- nine additional credits in art history
Courses offered by other departments may also count toward these nine credits provided that they contain a strong visual arts component. Such courses can be found in the departments of Anthropology/Sociology (for example, Anthropology & Art); History (especially those dealing with Ancient Greece and Rome); Psychology (particularly those dealing with the cinema) and Interdisciplinary courses such as London: Art, Architecture & Literature. Students should check with the Art Department faculty to confirm that a course they have chosen may indeed be counted toward the minor/concentration. Business & the Arts Major
As a joint program between the Business and Accounting department and the Performing and Fine Arts, this major offers students an opportunity to integrate an interest in the arts with an understanding of some of the practical applications of business. This major serves students preparing for careers in arts administration or management in music, theatre and the visual arts. It will also serve those who might want to create an independent gallery, ensemble, or theatre company.

Core
Core course work in the Arts (5 to 7 credits in each of the three arts):

Students choose course work in one focus in the arts:
Visual Art Focus (12 - 15 credits):
- At least nine credits including both studio work and art history
